Young learners like to play while they are learning. So the best way is to use as much as possible these games. You can find games with letters and adapt them to their age and language skills.

a. Look at the four types of writing activities from exercise 1.
- Copy writing
- Dictation
- Freer writing
- Filling-in writing
How often do you do these kinds of writing activities, and why?
I usually like filling-in writing and freer writing, and then, error correction, because I think it's very impotant for the children to express themselves, but then to be conscious of their mistakes and to remember them.

b. Have you got any other ideas for writing lessons (either ones you have done or would like to do)?
Through games.

I use copy writing and dictation with young learners who are learning how to write.
Freer writing is good for those who are able to write a few sentences, especially for those who can express themselves through writing as well. Beginners can use free writing with words on a certain topic. For e.g. the teacher tells them to write a column with fruits and one with vegetables and they write whatever they want. Then they can switch papers and check the accuracy or they can write the words on the board for others to see their examples as well.
Gap filling can be adapted for any level.
