Selecting and Grading vocabulary

Post by Anna Buñuel » Wed Jan 10, 2018 8:55 am

4 There are many examples of false friends Spanish-speaking students might find difficult to remember-learn...some of the examples that come to mind might be actual-present/actual-real, assist-to attend/asistir-ayudar, bombero-firefighter/bomber-bombardero, chocar-collide/choke-ahogar, colegio-high school/college-university, constipado-a cold/constipated-restreñido. Actually and eventually are always difficult!
5 I think students should decide for themselves which words they would like to learn but from a list given by the teacher, so in a way, I agree with both statements! Of course kids learn vocabulary from a given context so we teachers can decide the context and students could decide which words they would like to remember
