in my classes i use a book called (interchange) it has so many levels ,they start from the lowest level teaching students with very limited background in English , the book contains so many different activities and one of them is (role-play) which i see it is very beneficial because it serves many purposes like reading , learning vocabulary , and most of all it encourages the students to speak which helps the students break the wall of shyness and helps them in many situations which they might face in their daily life.
i would suggest for my students to read the conversation one day before doing the (role-play) activity so they have the chance to be prepared for practice.
repeating these activities more often helps to generate a self-confidence and strengthens the speaking abilities in the students.
the book also has grammar practice with a section for grammar tips for speaking correctly , also has a listening activities through external CD's and of course some related exercises.
the activities that the book provides is kind of similar to what i would give my students if i was making my own curriculum.
finally i provide the appropriate atmosphere to help my student accomplish the aim and the purpose of the activity.
