unit 10 self evaluation and course evaluation

In my classes, all the processes and the stages that we go through are very important because for me I consider them a part of learning , every time we do an activity it teaches the students something new , this is what we call formative assessment, it doesn't have to be a test or an exam , this is a part of ongoing evaluation , it is continuous , but we also have the summative assessment , which is the conclusive exam that students must take at the end of each term, this is done by me as a big and major part of evaluating my students learning .

giving the students a self-evaluation activities helps them see where they actually are, and how much they have accomplished from the term or course ,, for speaking activity it helps them to record themselves speaking and keep it until the end of the term and then they can listen to it to see how much they developed ,, another activity is the vocabulary diary , where they write the words which they don't know and after one month they can review then and see if they still don't know .

If I had to choose an activity to test my students learning I would choose that students write me a letter, in that letter they should mention all the new thing they have learned and they have to estimate their progress, this way I can know if the aims of the course were reached and the goals of the programme were achieved.

the activity that won't work in my class is when students review what they have learnt and make tests for each other, simply I don't see this happening in my classes since the students are not qualified to make fair tests to each other because I am positive that students have different abilities and each one of them will make a test from his /her own perspective.
