Democracy protesters set fire to Hong Kong local mall

A video has been viewed tens of thousands of times in the 24 hours since it was published on Facebook alongside a claim it shows a fire started by Hong Kong protesters at a high end shopping mall on Hong Kong island. The claim is untrue; The footage actually shows a fire at a nearby mall in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.

the video was published here on Facebook by user on September 18, 2019. it's viewed more than 31,000 durations.

In a single minute, 27 second video footage, Flame and smoke can be seen filling the central section of a shopping mall. The foot is shaky, And a person voice can be heard in on the audio.

A reverse image search on Google using keyframes from the video found what is the news article published by Singaporean news channel Channel News Asia, Headlined: Breaks out at Johor Bahru local mall CNA article states in part: BAHRU: A blaze broke out at an exhibitor's display in a popular shopping centre in Johor Bahru on friday (Sep 18) morning, setting off fire alarms.

Were called to the Mall, Mid Valley Southkey Johor after the reports of a fire and incapacitated floor of the shopping centre at around 2.15pm. Same video used in the misleading posts are visible here on Twitter. The footage is stuck below.
