By his own admission, Greens head chef Simon Rimmer couldn't even cook when he bought the dining. His background was in fashion design and he believed that if he owned a restaurant he could just swan around chatting up girls! When he became aware that he couldn't afford to pay a chef, He decided to learn to cook himself.

Admittedly it would not necessarily sound promising. But Greens has become your most valuable vegetarian restaurants in Manchester. Awards it has won dating include:

City Life's Best Restaurant of the season,

The Big Issue's Restaurant of the year, Manchester refreshments Festival's Best Provision for Vegetarians (Three intervals)

AA Rosette for effective of cooking.

The critics have actually been just as generous, With everyone from The Guardian to Didsbury journal singing the restaurant's praises.

Simon Rimmer has become something of a celebrity chef. He makes regular looks on Saturday Kitchen on BBC1, UKTV Food and Richard and Judy and has also written and published two recipe books.

Despite this, Greens resides a homely, Unpretentious little kitchen. there isn't any fancy tricks on the menu, Just artistic veggie dishes featuring quality produce. The food is so good here that even people who love their meat will be very impressed and if you're veggie, you can be in absolute heaven.

in all honesty, I worry for the sanity of most of these reviewers. That absent, Not eveywhere is to our taste and fancy. considerably, Just i will say this.

I am a dyed within your wool carnivore. I chose a guest to Greens because she had been before, She played it, And the online menu was very interesting. Can I simply make a special mention for the veggie black pudding. As a lover of these little beasts from Bury specials to Spanish morcilla I was totally gob smacked at how good these faux products were. I've no idea the direction they do it, But these would not have been shown up in down town Madrid! Bloody great. or cold, As the problem may be.

The starter and following mains were equally as good and well worthy of our attention.

To consume (After a fine wedding cake) there would be Pedro Ximenez. Not a fully aged 30 year old lovely, But a cheeky little kid at 15 years. leastways, That's my guess. an excellent end to a cracking night.

Having not visited this restaurant for a number of years we were really anxious about experiencing the atmosphere and food now the restaurant has been extended. How disappointed we were with the feeling and most noteably with the service. We had to fix the waitress on the orders for every course, We were not offered any extra drinks or liquers, got the bill despite not having asked for it and told to leave (Not tactfully asked)On the cerebrovascular event of 9.30, Which seems to have occured to other reviewers. We weren't advised of the 9.30 vacation rule whilst booking or on our arrival at the restaurant. We found the manner this was done rude as a consequence will not be returning!

It's so great to have a choice greater than two dishes (as you grow at most non veggie places) And not a veggie lasagne around the corner! Took ex's meat eating parents here and they loved it. Great quality food beautifully cooked and inexpensive. My only criticism is that it can get a bit loud at busy times as it is such a small room. oh well. You can't except time.
