I am completely sure that the dolphins helped Nikki to talk but I haven´t a clear theory about it. Perhaps Nikki simply enjoyed the dolphins so much that when she left the pool she was so eager to play again with the dolphins that she said her first word "In" to communicate her wish. It´s possible that this was the spark that made him start to improve his speak.

Do you really think the dolphins helped, or is this a case of media exaggeration?

As I said before, I really strongly think that Nikki was helped by the dolphins. So, in my opinion, isn´t an exaggerationof the media.

Do you know any other stories about the therapeutic effect of animals?

A lot of scientific researchs demostrate that simply by stroking a dog the brain secretes numerous chemical substances. Among which we find endorphins and serotonin that provide a feeling of happiness and tranquility. It can be very beneficial to some diseases such as depression, stress, anorexia, etc.

How do you think Nikki's mother raised the £10,500? How would you raise this amount of money?

It is difficult to know but I can imagine that a close relative with enough money would give her that huge amount of money. Maybe she have created a platform on the internet to raise money making her project known and created beneficiary associaton.
