I love drills and chants. Children like them. They are useful to practice pronunciation and to get their attention up.
I often use drills and chants. Most of them are from the class book. They help me to teach new vocabulary and new grammar structures.

I do use drills and chants in my classes (however I prefer to use rhymes with music), especially between 4-6.
Kids really enjoy learning nursery rhymes, so learning a short song and then repeat it without singing it, change to lyrics together when they already know what to do and how to do it, they are very creative suggesting knew sentences and vocabulary we should rhyme and sing about.

I usually use drills, specially when we practice pronunciation, my learners love when I fake different accents and they try to imitate me. I think it is a good idea to drill this way so they are aware of different accents.
