I work with young children and I think that recorded text and live listening are important to them. They can identify different voices and talk about their own experiences.

I ask the same sts some questions from the previous class to listen different types of answers. That helps them identify different voices.
Sometimes I talk about my weekends and sts ask me a lot of questions.

I think that both live listening and recorded listening are both very important, sometimes if children don't have enough listening they cannot understand recorded listening because of the speed of speech, voice or accent, so they definitely should have plenty of this type of practice. But live listening is nice to set topics or models for speaking and encourage students to speak.
