2. What is the balance of interactive/non-interactive listening activities that you use in your classes?
I must admit the listening activities in my classes are not very balanced: non-interactive activities (through pre-recorded materials) are dominant. I sort of stick to the “myth” of pre-recorded texts being a more accurate language model. I found it really interesting to go through this unit and see the advantages of live interaction. I will certainly integrate more interactive activities in my classes in the future.
3. Do you think that live teacher listening is an activity type that can be used equally by both native and non-native teachers? Why?
I think live teacher listening can be used by non-native teachers too. We live in a world where millions of people speak English as a foreign language, and the main point there is being able to communicate, regardless of the accent, so I think it is a good opportunity to be exposed to some live language by a non-native teacher, because it reflects the English-speaking world nowadays.
