Every class I use live listening for the routines. With the greetings (Hello every one, How are you today?, Nice to see you again), taking attendance, asking for dates, asking or giving permission, giving instructions, doing games (hangman, guess who, bingo). It is successful because it is in real school context. I mean it is daily activity in the classroom, the real things children need to do in the class. For example, to go to the restroom, to ask for permission, to ask for something (pencil, glue, sharpener, eraser, etc.).
