Writing activities

I just carried out a writing activity in a CLIL class which is useful when it comes to having your learners start writing essays. First you need to present the topic the essay is going to be written about. Then you show the framework of an essay (introduction, 1st paragraph, etc, conclusion) then on the board you break into parts the essay's framework and elicit from ss ideas about what could be written in each section. Finally, after all the ideas that are going to be included within the essay are written on the board and ss know what to write about, you assign one of the sections of the framework to each learner so that he or she covers that part, at the end each s reads its part according to the sequence of the essay, so that the whole group writes a single essay as a team. It is important to guide ss step by step and to be clear on the content as well as keep monitoring constantly in order for all the sections to match at the end.
