Young learners love competitions, so I have got a good participation from them when I have asked them to write the words I spell on the board. The competition is with four or five children using a specific space on the board at the same time and obviously timing the activity. Other good idea is when the teacher gives a sentence about a story, invented or popular, and the children write one by one the next sentence that gives sequence to the story. It could be funniest when the story is invented.
