I'm from Catalonia and there are many interesting places to visit around this area. But the places I like the most are the little villages from "La Costa Brava". Since I was 2 years old I spend all my summers in Port de la Selva. It's a lovely place, full of white houses and beautiful beaches. During winter it's almost empty, only few bars and restaurants are opening, but in summer the population triplicates and the village seems to be always awake. The weather is quite complicated, there is a wind called "Tramuntana", which is very strong and doesn't even let you walk sometimes. But the views of the sea are amazing, and you can do plenty of excursions around there and visit some castles and little beaches.
The easiest way to get there is going by car, there are some combinations by train and bus, but I only recommend them if you travel during the months of summer.
If you want to spend some relaxing days and enjoy from the clean air and the sea smell, Port de la Selva is a great idea!
