Sports, ceremonies and rituals.

I think the Mesoamerican ball game was both, a sport and a religious ceremony. Because as the text said, the game has its own rules and the players were competitive. They mentioned that it was a ritual sacred game played by all peoples of Mexico and Central America. It also said that the ball might have symbolised the sun as it moved from the east to the west across the sky.
Talking about popular sports, I don't think they have a ritual or symbolic significance. It's only for pleasure, and to be competitive showing who is the best in each sport.
Bullfighting is a sport that many people like. In my own opinion, I think is an agressive sport, where animals are sacrificed only for the enjoyment of those people. I think it should be banned.
