Poetry and Snakes

In spite of not being the Poetry one my favourite literary genres, I liked the poem Snake because expresses the mixture of emotions that a person might feel of glancing a nearby wild or dangerous animal.

As I said firstly, I do not like the Poetry very much. Nevertheless I have some favourite Spanish Poets as Antonio Machado, Federico García Lorca, Pino Ojeda or Josefina de la Torre.

If I met a snake, I would stay as still as possible in order not be be detected by it. Thankgoodness, it has never happened to me. I live in Canary Islands, a territory where there have not been snakes till ten years ago when irresponsible people left free one in the countryside. Since that moment, different snakes started to appear in some áreas of the island. Nowadays it has become a terrible environmental problem which it is killing our own principal both vegetable and animal species. The only advantage of this terrible situation is that this kind of animal, California snakes, is not venomous.

Happy New Year
