Interesting language facts

For me, one of the most interesting linguistic facts I have found on the Internet is that one of my mother languages, Catalan, is spoken in Italy, on the island of Sardinia. This is because a part of the island (the city of L'Alguer) was occupied by the Catalan army in the 14th century. L'Alguer was repopulated by the Catalan people. This means that a large part of the population of Alghero still uses the Catalan language habitually (about a 22,4% of the population).

I'm happy to know that one language that is not the main language of the country (Italian) is still used by a part of the population.

That's interesting Daniel. Have you heard Sardinian Catalan spoken? I wonder if it is very different from modern Catalan.
See you,

Hi Pieter,

It's very similar. You can watch an example here:

This man speaks catalan very well, but with an italian accent.
