I use informal way of comuication when I speak to a close friend which I know very much or that I don't see for much time and English speakers uses in writing when they use informal for example they use what's-t-his friend and when you do a dictation you have to pay attention to this lines the difference sound in pronunciation .The conversation is more friendly .
