What about you?

Hello everybody!
I’m Abel, from Barcelona.
When I was in school, there were some names that were quite common, such as Jordi, Xavier, David, Francesc... But nowadays, parents mainly choose quite different names. It’s really difficult to find a little boy called Jordi, while Lluc, Iu, Pau or Marc are really common. My prediction is that in twenty years from now, Jordi will be common again.
In my country, we have two family names. The first one is usually given by your father, while the second one is given by your mother, although it can be changed.
My first family name is Flores, which is really-really common. On the other hand, my second family name, Famades, is very rare. The first one comes from Andalucia, while the second one comes from Lleida. I got quite curious about it and I made a small search on the net. There are more than thirteen hundred people called “Flores” in Catalonia (I imagine there are hundreds of thousands in the world) while only a dozen who has “Famades” as their first or second family name (I probably know each one of them).
My first name means “flowers” … isn’t it nice? ;) In fact, now and then, some people has called me “Flowers” along the years, as a mix of caring and joking name.
Cheers,
Abel
