In Catalonia before common female names were Montserrat, Maria, Núria, Carme... and common males name were Joan, Josep, Pere..., but now girls are named Júlia, Martina, Abril, Ona... and boys are named Pau, Pol, Roc, Marc...
My family names are Coll and Ribas. They are not very common but they are not strange.
In my country there are also surnames that refer to professions such as Fuster, Sabater or Ferrer.
The most frequent surnames are Spanish: García, Martínez, Sánchez or Rodríguez.
