i think dolphins, such as others animals, are able to help children and other people with mental retardation (down syndrome, authism) or that have suffered a trauma. In this case basically there are a lot of scientific researches which give the misures of the effectiveness of those studies. I don't think it's a media suggestion but a mix of science and faith. unfortunately, i don't know other stories about therapeutic effect of animals. Today it's easier than the past to raise money thanks to social network so in my opinion Nikki's mother posted the story and she was able to raise the total amount.
