The Chinese tradition tries to get a garden which may be part of nature and it's in harmony with nature too.
The water shall come from natural source: a river or lake; it can create too, but it shall seem to be natural.
A old Feng Shui principle says ideal house must be protected by mountains in North side, a white Tiger in West side and a Green Dragon in East side. The spirit of this principle is the house must be protected against cold winds. A good orientation of garden is a reflection of positive thinking.
The ways of garden shall be curved, you must prevent strainght lines.
Public and private areas must be separated by a threshold.
Vegetation must be kept good conditions.
The empty-full balance shall be kept.
