Save the Children works for and with children at risk of hunger and malnutrition and those affected by natural disaster, war and conflict. One of our key priorities is protecting children in emergencies around the world. We're on the ground now, in El Salvador, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Vietnam, delivering assistance very quickly, often with local staff in advance of a disaster, and we stay on the scene long afterwards.
Save the Children is the leading independent organization creating real and lasting change for children in need in the United States and around the world. It is a member of the International Save the Children Alliance, comprising 27 national Save the Children organizations working in more than 110 countries to ensure the well-being of children

In fiscal year 2008, 92 percent of all expenditures went to program services. That percentage is an average for all of Save the Children's programs worldwide: the percentage spent on any particular program may vary.

Every day children are benefiting from Save the Children’s sponsorship programs in ways you may not even imagine. The care you provide through a simple letter may be the encouragement a struggling girl or boy needs to make it through another day. Through sponsorship you'll see up close and personal how you've given your sponsored child the chance for a better, brighter future.
Save the Children is able to do so much with small contributions because we have learned that one of the most effective ways to help children is to combine sponsorship gifts with those of other sponsors and donors - rather than giving them directly to your sponsored child - to support programs that help make life better for many children in the communities.
