11.3. BRAND NAMES

11.1.1. Who started the Levi Strauss Company?
The founder of Levi Strauss Company was founded on 1853 in San Francisco California by Levi Strauss

11.1.2. Which actor influenced the image of jeans, and why?
I don’t know the exactly names of actors but I know that in the 1930's, Hollywood made lots of western movies. Cowboys - who often wore jeans in the movies-became very popular. Many Americans who lived in the eastern states went for vacations on 'dude ranches' and took pairs of denim 'waist overalls' back east with them when they went home.
Additionally in the 1950´s denim became popular with young people. It was the symbol of the teenage rebel in TV programs and movies (like James Dean in the 1955 movie Rebel without a Cause). Some schools in the USA banned students from wearing denim. Teenagers called the waist overalls 'jean pants' - and the name stayed.

11.1.3. Any other interesting facts about the history of jeans?
Other thing interesting about the history of jeans is the history of the jeans during the Second World War. Fewer jeans were made during the time of Second World War, but 'waist overalls' were introduced to the world by American soldiers, who sometimes wore them when they were off duty. After the war, Levi began to sell their clothes outside the American West. Rival companies, like Wrangler and Lee, began to compete with Levi for a share of this new market.

11.1.4. What kinds of sportswear does Nike produce?
Nike produces three kinds of sportswear, Nikefutbol, Nikerunning and Nikesportswear, and for each kinds of sportswear have many references, styles and models.

11.1.5. What are Nike’s Fun Police?
They are a series of commercial spots with famous basketball players. The Fun Police taught me that life isn’t about fame, fortune or gaudy statistics. It’s about living life the right way. It’s about the team over ego and most importantly, it’s about cuddling.
