Fuel From Beer Waste

A method using leftover energy from the ingredients used to make beer may provide another alternative fuel source, and another reason to drink more beer.
An anaerobic methane digester developed by Eric Fitch, the CEO of PurposeEnergy Inc, harnesses the leftover energy from hops, barley and yeast used to make beer and then uses it to process the plant's wastewater. The biphase orbicular bioreactors, (BOB), are able to convert the brewery's waste into 200 cubic feet of biogas per minute.
The system not only reduces the plant's waste, but also reduces the costs of natural gas consumption and enables breweries to partially power themselves.
