1. Modern technology.

In LISTENING, two people discussed the value of new technology. Which speaker did you agree with and why? Can you think of more arguments in favour of, or against, modern technology?

I agree with the man who thinks that technology is a good thing. Technology helps to be more effective. For example, if you have to do a work, Intenet makes possible to find quickly information about the subject.

2. Vocabulary.

Look again at the electrical equipment vocabulary from VOCABULARY exercise 6. Choose the FIVE that you think are most useful. Explain why you have chosen them.

Mobile phone: it can save you from difficult situations (an accident on the mountain, when your car has a breakdown in the middle of the motorway...)

MP3: it makes possible to listen music wherever you are.

Memory card: it makes possible to save a lot of information and to translate it wherever you go.

Laptop computer: it makes possible to work everywhere

Microwave over: if you don't have any time to dinner, with the microwave over you can heat up fast food.

3.Do you know any mobile phone stories?

BREGENZ - A skier trapped under collapsed snow in far western Austria was saved when he was able to call for help on his mobile phone.

The 44-year-old Austrian man defied warnings of unstable snow Wednesday and went skiing at Golm near Tschagguns.

He skied out on a slab of snow that gave way, carrying him along for several metres and burying him under 20 centimetres of snow, the police said.

Luckily, a cavity formed in the snow that allowed him to breath, and after 30 minutes, he was able to reach his mobile phone and call for help.

A short time later, rescuers were able to locate him and dig him out, thanks to his call and one of his hands that was protruding from the snow.

He fractured his shin bone and suffered a torn ligament, a police spokesman said.

I agree with you answers about modern technology. Of all the devices you've mentioned in part 2, which do you think you use the most?
