When I was a child we made slingshots. We made them by cutting thick wood into the shape of a 'y'. Then we cut a piece of rubber from a car tube. We used the slingshots to shoot stones or folded pieces of paper. We never shot at birds. We just shot at empty cans on a fence or shot big stones we found in the fields.
