I’ve been sick in Adelaide with Leukaemia for some time now. My family live in Mt Gambier and there have been times where I haven’t seen them for 3-4 weeks. Someone told me about Skype so we purchased webcams and downloaded the program. There was some frustration with the initial setup getting sound and video settings right so I was pleased when I had it up and running. The first night I Skyped the family I was so excited seeing the kids that I couldn’t sleep. How much better is it to see the kids in realtime rather than the traditional phone? I also use email and facebook but skype is my preferred communication tool. I have built up a network of family and friends to chat to in places like Whyalla, Townsville, Singapore, Bangkok, London and various locations around Adelaide. Don’t you just love technology!!
