Foreign languages at school

In my work as a Education Ministry of this country, I have decided to make Spanish as a new extra foreing language, because spanish is the third most spoken language in the world and at the same time is the language most spoken in the American continent because of its Latin descent.

Lenguages like Esperanto, Arabic or Latin are not so useful in the daily life of humanity, that is why they were not chosen.

I agree with this opinion. I think that Spanish is one of the most spoken language in the world. The other languages are very interesting but it´s important that the students learn a language that help them communicate out of their countries. With respect to Latin I think that it is interesenting to learn the origin of certain languages although it isn´t a living language.

Hi Leire, if the number of speakers is the criterion for choosing the language, then we should all learn Chinese! :) 935 million speakers, compared to 390 million Spanish speakers and only 365 million for English!
Can I help you with something?
out of their countries. = Here you can say: .. that helps them communicate with people from other countries.
See you,
Pieter
