My name is María José and it's a common name here, in Spain. It's used more frecuently in Valencia that in León, the city I came from, but it's also common here. My family name it's common too. There are a lot of names that mean geographical features like Vega. There are some foreign names used in my country, for example Johnatan, Christian, Marco. When I meet someone for the first time I usually use the first name but it depends the situation. In my country we use some pet names like "cariño", "querida". These names are used to show affection.
