Unit 3. Netsearch

Dolphins have so many similarities with humans that the mythology says that they were humans. The god Dionisio punished them with this appearance for having tried to sell him.

They say that dolphins are one the most intelligent animals in the world and many studies have been carried to prove it. The main part of studies has tried to decrypt its language because dolphins can communicate each other using a real language. They use clicks, whistles, other vocalizations and ultrasounds to locate the places of objects or fish. They even have their own name that is pronounced with a specific whistle for each one.

Dolphins help people with some kind of problems like Down syndrome, hyperactivity or psychological problems. Like Nikki, many children have improved their social behaviour playing with dolphins. Dolphins treat those children like another dolphin of their pod and make kids feel one of them. They love to play with children, swim together and they communicate in an easier way than with words.

Play is a very important part of dolphins' lives. Like people they like to play with other dolphins and even with humans.

This nobel animal has helped people from the most ancient times, saving sailors from sharks and guiding them to the coast. Unfortunately, thanks to their intelligence and docility, dolphins have been trained to kill and have been used by the army of EEUU and Rusia as spies, to set mines or even as a kamikaze soldier.

Some dolphins has reached the hearts of many children and adults. One is Flipper, a dolphin who is saved by a boy who became its best friend. The other is Willy, and orca that was set free by a boy, the only one who could understand that Willy felt alone and far from its family.
