What about you?

What about you?

Hello,
My surname is one of most common's in Spain. Garcia. It's common but not ordinary. One king was called Garcia in Middle Ages in Spain, but as a first name, not surname. My first name is usual too, Miguel. So I bet, many people in Spain have my name. In fact, I know people that have the same name than my, for exemple the father of a school friend of my son. And both then, have the same surname, but fortunately, not the same first name.
Miguel

Hello Miguel,
my family name is also very common in Spain: Martínez. I do not know if in its origins it meant something special... There are some family names that have a special meaning, for example, "Exposito". In the past, when children was abandoned in churches or other public places, they named the children with a firt name (usually, the name of the saint of the day) and then, as a family name, they called "Exposito", that means "abandoned".

My first name is not so common: Olga. I think it cames from Russia, but I am not sure, and I don't know its meaning.

What about pet names? Well, in Spain as in other countries, we use pet names as "cariño", "cielo"... I use them to call my husband and also my daughter...
