The surname Teixeira or Teijeira comes from Spain. This toponymic name is also often used in Portugal and Brazil. Local names originally denoted the proprietorship of the village. Curiously, Teixeira name, my middle-name, is a derivative of Portuguese and Galician teixo ‘yew tree’ (taxus).
I searched on Google and Yahoo browsers, but I could't find people with my whole full name, Raquel Teixeira de Sousa. I just discovered similar ones such as Raquel Souza Teixeira. On the other hand, both names,Teixeira and Sousa, are often used together. António Teixeira de Sousa was a famous doctor from the North of Portugal. He was also a writer and a deputy whom was given a chair of last constitutional monarchy of Portugal. Another personality bearing the same name was Henrique Teixeira de Sousa, a famous writer of Cape Verde.
