Sherlock Holmes was not a real person. He was a fictitious character invented by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle in 1887.
At the beginning, the author of this detective novel didn't want to call him as Sherlock Holmes, if not he had thought to call him Sherrinford.
Nowadays, he is considered as an popular icon culture because you can find him in theater, soap operas and novels.
Some quiz questions can be:
1-. Does he look like?
2-. Does he smoke a pipe?
3-. Has he got a brother? If so, is he older or younger than him?
4-. When he was born?
5-. Did he have any enemies? Who?
This is some information I have found on the Net.
