Unit 3. Chat

Dolphins are very social animals. They love contact with humans and have always helped sailors and people in cases of boats that had sunk.
They are incredible animals with their own language and everyone has its own name, like people do. For those reasons they prove to be very useful with children that have any kind of problem like autism, Down syndrome, depression, hyperactivity or another kind of disabilities.
I really think that dolphins helped Nikki, they treated him as one of them, they communicate with him and they made him feel better. Therefore Nikki wanted to be with them as much as to try to speak. I think it’s like a wheel, as he felt better he improved and that improvement made him feel better and more wishful to be with dolphins. There’s another kind of communication farther than words, it’s the contact language, based in gestures and touch.
When a close relative is ill, especially a son, a mother would do everything for its healing. I suppose that Nikki’s mother asked for a loan to pay the treatment, at least that’s what I’d do.
Another useful therapy is hipotherapy that I suppose is the same but with horses. There’s a farm in Ciudad Real, in Spain, where children with autism and hyperactivity greatly improve after a period with horses.
Dogs have also given back illusion to old people who were alone, with no family, and who couldn’t get out of their home because of their ailments. Perhaps animals have the faculty of communicating and giving their love in a basic way.
