The story about Kumiko Tsuchida was reported in The Times and The Guardian in June 1997. But do you really think it is true?
I think that this is impossible. However in the world there are a lot of people, and there happen a lot of incredible stories.
For other hand this can be true, because there are some people with a bad sense of orientation, absentminded and without common sense.
When I go abroad, sometimes I think about what will happen if I go a wrong way. Consequently I have careful with all indicators.
