My name is Roya, which means dream. I am from Iran, a wonderful country in Middle East. The most common name in my country for girls are Maryam- The name of a flower- Zahar- a religious name- and for boys are Ali and Mohammad, both of them are religious too.
My family name is Karimi Majd. The first part of my family that means open-handed is common, but the second part of it, Majd, made it dedicated.
We have lots of common name with other languages such as Turkish, Arabic, Russian and English names.
We use Mr or Mrs and their family name when we are in the job or speak with an important person. When we are with friends and colleagues, we don’t use them.
When the name is long, sometimes, we use the short form, Sheri for sherafat, Fati for Fatemeh…

Hello Roya,

I think yours is a beautiful name! I also like Zahar. In Spanish the orange blossom (=flower) is called "azahar". Maybe it originates from Zahar?

My name is Lucy, which means "light". I think it comes from Latin.

Best wishes.
