My family name is Zimmermannová. This is a family name of my father’s side. It comes from German language and it means a carpenter. It’s often confused with Zimmermanová. These two variations support my opinion that you can find people with the same name all over the world. The related surnames are Carpenter or Carpender, Wright or Woodwright in English, Carpentier or Charpentier in French, Carpenterio or Carpenter in Spanish and De Carpenter or De Carpentier in Dutch. Unfortunately, I don’t know anything about history of my father’s family. Some peope with the same surname live in my home town, but we aren’t relatives. The interesting thing is that one of them is a teacher as me, though it’s a small town.

On the Web is a few Hana Zimmermannová which work as a volunteer fireman, private dealers or they are students. Anyway, I’ve found about 55 users of Facebook with the same surname, but a different first name. Some Web pages are dedicated to family histories.

The most common surnames are Nováková, Svobodová, Novotná, Dvořáková or Černá in the Czech Republic where I live. I really can’t find any page written to discuss about the same surname. Could you write me some tips how to find it, please?
