Reality Shows... again!

Reality Shows... again!

Postby Oriol Llach » Tue Oct 27, 2009 9:53 pm

Pekin express is a reality show broadcasted in Cuatro, a private TV company, where the contestants have to travel across 10.000 Km from one place to another with a budget of 1 euro per person that has to be invest in food, the transportation has to be for free.

This tv show was created in Belgium and Holland in 2004 and it arrived to Spain in 2008 when the purpose was to go from Russia to Beijing. In the 2009 edition the route is from Beijing to Mumbay.

The rules are easy, they have to compete by couples, they have to arrive to the destination, but during the journey all of them will have to do a lot of exercises to don’t be eliminated and be sent back to home. Exercises like finding a little piece of whatever in Hong Kong (all Hong Kong city!) or like eating worms and some other disgustin animals typical in the oriental menu that are difficult to accept for our cooking culture...

It’s a program full of human senses, adventure, emotion and surrealists situations. I hate reality shows before I saw Pekin Express, but I have to recognize that it’s a quality tv program, one thing that I’ve ever imagined I would say about a reality show.

Hi everyone,
I agree with Oriol because I enjoy Pekin Express, and I try to watch each week the evolution of this race. Some times ago I watched a Island reality programme with normal people, not famous and I also enjoy this show.

Now, I answer the questions about reality shows,

2. What programmes have the most viewers where you live?
Perhaps the soap series and reality shows like “Big Brother”
3. Do TV programmes have content ratings in your country?
Yes, when films are for adults they appear the number 18 label on the right top of the screen.
4. Do you have a favourite channel?
I watch different TV channels, but mainly TV3, A3 and TV5.
5. Would you ever consider being a contestant on reality show?
I have ever seriously considered being a contestant on a reality show.
6. How many remote controls do you have in your living room?
I have four remote controls in my living room, one of the TV, one of the DVD, one of the satellite channels and one of the HI-FI.
7. In your opinion, what are the most exciting and the most boring programmes on TV?
The most exciting are good films and the most boring for me are the sport programmes.
8. What kind of TV competitions are popular in your country?
In my country there are diary TV Competitions, like “pasapalabra” that are very popular.

1. Would you ever consider being a contestant on reality show?
I haven’t ever seriously considered being a contestant on a reality show, but sometimes I though that I would like to participate in “Lost in the Island”, but not with famous persons.
2. Do you think show producers should be allowed to involve children in reality shows? I think so, I think that involve children in reality shows can be dangerous for their, furthermore I think that is not correct.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of participating in reality shows?
Advantages
.
You have a different activity during the reality show, because you don’t work.
You meet other people, with other cultures and opinions, sometimes very different persons.

Desavantatges
You are famous after the show.

You have to win the competition if you want to receive the prize.

Somebody of the on-line course have experience with quiz programmes?

Best regards,

I searched the Internet for information about Big Brother, this name have two meanings, like a person of the Novel of 1984 of George Orwell, and also like a Reality Show that began in Netherlands in 1999.
• Briefly describe the history of the show.
This show is about a group of people, from 15 to 25 persons, who live together in a closed house with a lot of hidden cameras, during more than tree months.
• Has this show ever existed in your country?
This show exists in my country, and now is working. Also I found in my net search that exist in Africa, Germany, Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Colombia, and France.
If so, do you know the rules for it?
• Nobody can know, previously it starts, other person in the house.
• Everybody must vote negative or positive tree people in the house, each week.
• They have to stay in the house all the time.
• They haven’t allowed to phone anybody.

Is this show different in other countries? I don’t know directly, but I found information that I think it is different in Canada and France. I showed two years ago the same show in England and I found it similar Big Brother Spain.
