Vega is a geographical feature and like a surname it indicates where the person is coming from. So it determines the origin of a person. It's a Castilian surname. During the "Reconquest" the surname "Vega" was droven to Latin America and now it's a common surname there too. There are several forms for Vega. For example: De Vega or De la Vega. There are a lot of places and villages with the name of Vega in Spain. For example: Riego de la Vega, San Cristóbal de la Vega, Vega de Pas, Vegadeo, Torrelavega, etc...
