WOMEN AT WORK: LOOKING FOR SOMETHING MORE
When I reflect on the responsibilities between men and women at work, what really strikes me is the fact that there are many fewer women in positions of responsibility than men; the few exceptions I see around me are usually a very specific profile of woman.
Most women in high positions tend to be single without children, some are women with grown children or no longer living at home, those that formed the family being very young, which does not happen today.
The rest is (are) women who do not accept responsibility for a long time. My own experience is a good example. I had a charge of responsibility and left it, rather disappointed by the way, for a more creative one, with another kind of responsibility not purely hierarchical. My experience tells me that for various reasons related with happiness, women do not want power.
That encourages me to continue to renounce many promotional offers I get. I have to admit that fewer and fewer, as I’m over 50 years old. An age that pushes me more and more to keep looking for more personal and smaller satisfaction: reading, cooking, writing…
