I was born in Catalonia, and my father also, but my mother came from de north of Spain.
My family name is not common, especially de second surname which comes from de north of Sapin. When I was a child my parents told me about my family ant cities where they lived. My family name doesn't refer to trades or professions, but here , there are some which refer to. In our city, I think there aren't many names of other countries, but you can find some names of popular films, etc.
When we meet a person here, we youse our cristhian name, we say: hi, I'm Maria, Laura, etc.But when we talk about important things or persons, we use the surnames with the title, as Mr, Mrs.
Of course we also use pet names to show affection to people we love.
