The common names in Spain are Marc and Alex for boys and Maria and Paula for girls.
2-Is your family name common?
My family name is not common however my husband family name is very common in Spain. This is Alvarez and we can find so many Alvarez here.
3-Does your family name tell you anything about your family (e.g., where you come from)? No, I don't think so. Sometimes my father explain to me that the first Busquets are from Girona but I'm not sure.
4- Some English names refer to trades or professions, such as Butcher or Baker. Does your name mean anything? Are there any names in your country that do?
My name is Sonia and means wisdom. A lot of names in Spain means something and at the moment we need to decide the name of our daughter, the first think we did, was to look for the meaning of the different names.
5- Are any names from other countries popular in your country? Which ones?
At this moment there are somes names like Melanie, Rebecca, Kevin, Nicole that are populars and are from other countries.
6-In your country when you meet someone for the first time what name do you use? How do you know when you can use their first name?
You usually use the name that the person use for introduce himself. Instead the person is an old person or a very important person, we usually use the first name.
7- There are common pet names in English that show affection, such as honey, darling or pet. What words are used in your language?
We use some words like "cariño", "amor", "vida",...
