My family name -GALLARDO- is not so common in Spain as García or Pérez, but there are over 8000 families with the same name. Gallardo means "brave" and its origin is French. There are a lot of family names that means or refers to professions, for example, our president ZAPATERO, it means "shoemaker".

In Spain , only in formal situations, we use the title of Señor (Sr.) o Señora (Sra.) followed by the family name.

In Spain, of course, we use words or expressions like "cari" (cariño), "chati", "gordi" as pet names.
