In Catalonia there are a lot of people who had considered “to change” their name. In fact, they translate from Spanish into Catalan their names. For the duration of the Franco’s dictatorship in Catalonia , was forbidden to be christened with a Catalan name.

So, at the end of the dictatorship my brother translated his name officially and my husband too. He’s Christian name was Fernando and he decided to translate it and his name is Ferran now.
