Hi,

I'm Adina Patras, I'm from Romania. In my country my name is not common, I think that Adina could be a Russian name. Patras is my husband surname and it doesn't mean anything. It is an island in Greece but it means nothing for Romania. Possible my husband's ascendents to be from Greece!!!
Common names are Ion (John), Petre (Peter), Maria (Mary), and Popescu, Ionescu... My husband's name - Adrian - is a common name, we can find it in all countries. But my sun name- Rares... this is a Romanian name... and I consider it that it represent part of our history.

The most common names where I live are, for example, Antonio, Pepe, Manolo.... very old names in my country. Now this is changing a lot and people have more diferent and modern names as, for example, my name: Rebeca.

My family name is very common in Spain. In my case it do not tell something about where my family came from or something like that, but in Spain there are a lot of family names which talk about the villages where the people came from.

I think thet in my country there is no family names which refers to a profession.

there are no family names from another countries populars in Spain, I know people with foreing family names but I always think "ohh, very strange family name"

Usually, In my country when you meet someone for the first time you introduce yourself with your name, but if you are in work or in a formal situation you normally introduce yourself or sombody with your/his name+first name.
