My family name is common in communities as Madrid, Catalonia, Andalusia, Balearic Islands, etc. The community where is more common is “La Coruña”, however my family comes from Andalusia.

3. Does your family name tell you anything about your family? (e.g. where you come from)
My family name is Salas, that comes from “salla”, and means something similar to a room or a living room.
On the other hand, there is a Council named “Concejo de Salas”, in Asturias.

4. Some English names refer to trades or professions, e.g. Butcher, Baker. Does your
name mean anything? Are there any names in your country that do?

Now a days the number of names from other places, have increased a lot, for example, there are names as: Jennifer, Michael, etc.

6. In your country when you meet someone for the first time what name do you use? How do you know when you can use their first name?
When we know someone, is common to use the first name, because de surname is very formal.

7. In your country do you ever use surnames without a title, (e.g. Mrs, Mr)? When could you do this? Why would you do it?
We don’t use this when we have a relaxed conversation with family, friends, or coworkers.
And I would do this if I know enough the people who I’m speaking.

8. There are common pet names in English that show affection, like: honey, darling or pet. What words are used in your language?
We have similar pet names, for example: ’cielo’, ‘amor’,’cariño’, cookie, etc.
