Hello,
Let me introduce myself, my first name is Kike as short for Enrique and my family name Arias.
I have been looking for some information regarding my name and your questions for this task.
Regarding my first name, its means, an strong, rich and powerful house, German origin. It is really interesting to discover your name roots and its meaning
Concerning my family name, it is not into the ranking of 40 family names more numerous in my country. They are Garcia, Fernández, González,
Rodriguez,.. Many of our family names ending "ez" means "son of" as Rodriguez son of Rodrigo, Gonzalez son of Gonzalo,..and so on.., they were originated
during Middle Age; others are taking the name from locations and many of them have the name of some village in Spain. For example, my family name Arias
comes from the north of Spain.
Right, in my country there are some common names, I have got this data from internet: 6 millions of Marias, around 30% of all woman in my country, and
3 millions of Joses. Many times, both of them are following with another name as Jose Luis, Jose Maria, Maria Luisa, Maria Pilar….
Due to the fact, that many people are coming to Spain from different countries. We are adding a list of new names to our society.
In our country, usually, we use our first name plus family name or title plus family name when we meet someone into professional context. However, when your
friends introduces you to someone we always use our first name, even sometime if the situation is very casual our nickname.
Following answering your questions, It is not normal to use surnames without title in my group of friend when 2 of us have de same first name, it is to know who
are you speaking about.
Finally, some people like to use pet names with people , it help to create a friendly and closer relationship with them. We use Chata, Bonita, Cariño, Nena, etc…
Regards,
Enrique
