A flatmate from hell

A flatmate from hell

I experienced a flatmate from hell for nearly one year although I shared a flat for eight years when I was young and it was in general a good experience. I rented a flat when I was twenty and started working in the mornings and studying in the afternoons. A year later I met a girl in my job who was studying too and looked for a flat to sharing. I asked her for sharing my rented flat and as she had stayed in several times in it and we got along, she accepted. We had a lot of things in common: we had the same job in the mornings, we were studying in the afternoons and we liked more or less the same food. Sometimes we had parties in the flat and invited our friends. But one day our landlady told us that her friend’s daughter looked for a flat and asked us to share it with her. We accepted and then began the hell. She had a dog which always was locked up in her room because we didn’t want a dog in the flat. She very often didn’t take out the dog to stroll so the dog’s excrement was in the room. She didn’t clean anything. At the end of each month, when she received the salary from her job, she spend it all in four or five days. One day she went shopping and bought five jeans, four jackets, four pairs of shoes and three boxes of packs of cigarettes. She spent the whole payment and couldn’t buy food, so she often got up at night and she and her dog ate our food. The following day she didn’t remember anything. She couldn’t go out the weekends because she had not money, so she spend the whole day smoking in her room, listening to loud music or watching tv. Very often the dog barked at night and annoyed us and our neighbours. We asked her to leave the flat if she didn’t change her behaviour but she didn’t want to change anything and as she had broken up with her parents she didn’t have where to stay. Then my friend and I went out on holyday and when we came back two weeks later, the flat was completely dirty and the smell was awful. She hadn’t put the rubbish out any time and we found worms in the kitchen. The landlady complaints because she didn’t pay the rent and we only paid our part. One day the landlady called us and said she would come the following day to charge the rent and my friend and I left the money in the hall as usually did. Then that girl took our money and when the landlady arrive, she found nothing. After that, the landlady had a talk with her. We didn’t know what she told her but she left the flat and we hadn’t known anything about her any more.
