In my opinion, this history is an extremely situation but I think is true: Kumiko was an alone person in England; she was from Japan; England is a far country of Japan; Kumiko didn't know very much English language, ... Perhaps, she didn't know the exact distance between England and Turkey.
Anyway, I believe that Mrs. Kumiko Tsuchida has to be a person very absent-minded or lacking in information because she has already should know that to go to Turkey is better by plane. By train, it could be possible, but it isn't exists a direct train from England to Turkey.
